About the role
The Backend Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining core backend systems that support lending operations. The role focuses on building reliable services for loan processing, repayments, reporting, and integrations with external systems. This position ensures backend infrastructure is scalable, secure, and able to handle increasing transaction volumes as operations grow.
Responsibilities and Competencies
- Design and develop backend services and APIs
- Maintain core lending and repayment workflows
- Integrate with third-party financial systems
- Monitor and improve system performance and reliability
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams
- Backend system design and development
- Problem-solving and debugging
- Code quality and documentation

Requirements
- Minimum of 2:1 in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technology field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience building backend systems in production
- Proficiency with databases, APIs, and server-side frameworks
- Knowledge of financial or transactional systems preferred
